Art has been a refuge and a source of strength for Darren his whole life.
His approach to painting is always characterised by beautiful colours and an energetic flow. Even his drawings are loose in feel but full of movement.
This looser feel compared to less ridged and time-consuming has become his confidence builder in recent years. This is a reminder of his resilience ever since his cognitive diagnosis.
While many artists favour a specific theme or style, he was unwilling to explore in-depth new ones to the fullest. However, a chance exploration whilst researching a theme was to prove pivotal. His aim was to find and share an emotion with himself and others. His abstract hearts allow an outpouring of calming emotions, thoughts, and a unique creativity to his identity as an artist.
It was the push to much more creativity with acrylic painting, and his drawings became loose as a consequence as well.
